MERS-CoV : The facts that you should know and realize.

1. The source of the MERS-CoV is not yet fully clear. A coronavirus very similar to the one found in humans has been isolated from camels in Egypt, Oman, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia.
2. MERS-CoV is significantly spreading in the healthcare facilities, but no any community outbreak is reported.
3. The mortality rate is high because the elderly, chronic heart diseases, kidney diseases, and poor immune patients have risks and poor prognosis of any infectious disease transmitted by healthcare workers to them.
4. The healthcare professionals have major roles to prevent spreading and maintainawareness of the infection prevention and control measures according to WHO or CDC Interim guidance. MERS-CoV infected patients or quarantine high risk suspected MERS-CoV infected people shouldn't be admitted in the same healthcare unit where the high risk mortality group stay in.
5. The virus does not appear to pass easily from person to person unless there is close contact such as providing clinical care to an infected patient while not applying strict hygiene measures. WHO does not recommend the application of any travel or trade restrictions at this point.
